Drop/Withdrawal Policy for Graduate Students

Approved by College Council 21 November 1994

Graduate students may drop a course by filling out a "drop" form on or before the appropriate deadline as published in the official university calendar. This form must be endorsed by the student's home department's designee (department head, student's advisor, or advisory committee). Before the deadline to drop, the course is removed and does not appear on the academic record; after the deadline to drop, students may withdraw from a course on or before the last class day, excluding final examinations. A "W" (withdrawal) will be assigned and appear on the academic record.

This policy applies to students who are registered as full time students as of the tenth day of classes. Students are expected to maintain a 36 factorable unit minimum. Permission to drop below the 36 unit minimum must be granted by the student's home department's designee (department head, student's advisor, or advisory committee).

Not all colleges have the same drop deadline. Students must follow the policy of the college offering the course.
