Vice President, Marketing & Communications
Key Nuttall serves as the vice president for marketing & communications. Nuttall provides leadership for the university's efforts to increase its visibility through communications, internal and external relations, as well as brand reputation and issues management.
As the leader of CMU's Marketing & Communications division and member of the senior management team, Nuttall facilitates collaboration among campus communicators and serves as the senior counselor to the president and senior leadership. He will also lead a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that highlights the institution's breadth and depth in scholarship, education and societal impact to advance the President’s vision and raise the university’s profile across diverse global audiences.
Prior to joining Carnegie Mellon, Nuttall served as the senior vice president for external relations at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, where he led the branding, marketing and communications strategy and programs across the university. Prior to Wesleyan, Nuttall served as the assistant vice president for university marketing at the University of Washington, where he led a team responsible for all campus-wide marketing activities. He also previously held marketing and management positions at Microsoft Corporation, most recently as director of strategy and marketing for the Learning Business unit.
Nuttall holds a bachelor’s degree from Colgate University and an MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA.
