Carnegie Mellon University

Official University Information and Access to University Data Sources

Carnegie Mellon University produces a decentralized yet available body of institutional data related to students, employees, alumni, fundraising, space, finances, and research revenues and expenditures.

One responsibility of the Office of Institutional Research and Analysis (IRandA) is to transform data into information and present those findings to decision makers in an actionable and relevant way. As the amount and the interconnectedness of available data has increased, the role of IRandA has evolved, and we recognize the need for and capacity of stakeholders across the university to engage in their own analysis for use in decision making. To rise to the occasion of providing actionable information in an increasingly evidence-driven culture, we must leverage work that is already being done—as well as work that could be done—by facilitating data and information sharing to further our institutional knowledge base and benefit the university as a whole.
