Assistant Teaching Professor, Information Systems
Previous to joining CMU-IS, Gabriela Gongora-Svartzman was an Adjunct Instructor for the BIA Program, Business School, Stevens Institute of Technology. She was also an Adjunct Associate Faculty for the Applied Analytics Program, SPS, Columbia University. Gabriela was a Teacher Assistant for Engineering Economics E-355 (on campus and abroad), and a co-teacher for Data Visualization (EM-622) and Multi-Agent Socio Technical Systems (ES-660).
She is a current member of INFORMS and IEEE, was a proud Grace Hopper Scholar in 2018, a Scholar at Tapia Conference in 2019, and had a leading position at the INCOSE Student Chapter at Stevens during 2015-2016. In her free time she volunteers teaching coding to kids, promoting women in STEM and sharing her culture with young students in New York through One to World.
Gabriela holds a PhD in Engineering Management from Stevens Institute of Technology, School of Systems and Enterprises. She also holds a double mayor as a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering and a M.Sc. in Computer Science.
During her time at Stevens she has been a researcher at the Visualization for Optimal Decision Making Lab (VizDec) as well as a Research Scientist for the Systems Engineering Research Center (SERC). Her research is focussed towards bridging the quality of experience and quality of services in smart cities.
