ID Card Modified Services for Spring 2021

To help mitigate spread of COVID-19 and adhere to CMU's public health and safety guidance, The HUB will continue to provide ID Card services on an appointment-only basis for the spring 2021 semester.

Many of The HUB's regular ID Card Services policies and/or procedures have been modified; one such modification is that we will only be producing ID Cards for students who will be in or around the Pittsburgh area this spring. The HUB is also prioritizing the production and distribution of faculty, staff, and sponsored cards for essential workers, and/or those who have a need to be on-campus this spring. More information about ID Card production can be found below.

In advance, we'd like to thank our CMU community members for their cooperation with these modifications.  If you have any questions or concerns, please email idplus@andrew.cmu.edu.

Students, Faculty & Staff Who Need to Replace a Lost or Damaged ID Card

Those who need a replacement for a lost or damaged card should complete an ID Card Request form (pdf) and submit it to idplus@andrew.cmu.edu, and then schedule an appointment to pick-up their ID Card. The ID Card Request form should be submitted prior to the ID Card pick-up appointment. A government-issued photo ID (and the damaged ID Card if replacing) must be presented upon pick-up. Any fees associated with replacing a card must be paid for upon pick-up by check (made out to Carnegie Mellon University), charged to the student's account (if applicable), or with an Oracle string (if applicable).

Note: All ID Card pick-up appointments will take place in the Cash Operations office, located in Warner A-11 (across the hall from The HUB). All appointments must be pre-scheduled and will be offered on a limited basis. View available appointments.

First-Year Undergraduate Students Living On-Campus

After the new year, first-year students will be mailed a packet from Housing Services, which will include their official CMU ID Card. Notably, and as indicated above, ID Cards are only being produced and distributed to those first-year students who will be in Pittsburgh for the spring 2021 semester. It is very important that students remember to bring their ID Cards with them when they arrive on campus for the spring semester, as it will be vital for accessing various resources on campus, such as buildings and dorm rooms.

First-Year Undergraduate Students Living Off-Campus

Because ID Cards are used for on-campus services and building access, only first-year students living on-campus or off-campus in the Pittsburgh area for the spring 2021 semester will receive an ID Card at this time.

If you are a first-year student who will be living in or around the Pittsburgh area this spring and need to obtain your ID Card, please schedule an appointment.

Note: All ID Card pick-up appointments will take place in the Cash Operations office, located in Warner A-11 (across the hall from The HUB). All appointments must be pre-scheduled and will be offered on a limited basis. View available appointments.

New, Incoming Graduate Students in the Pittsburgh-Area

In December, The HUB presented two options for ID Card distribution to partners in the various graduate departments across campus:

  • Ad-Hoc Distribution: Some departments will be distributing cards on an ad-hoc basis, either in-person or by mailing cards to students' local, Pittsburgh addresses; students can expect to hear from those departments about distribution plans shortly.
  • HUB Pick-Up: All other students will be expected to schedule an appointment for card pick-up beginning in January, during The HUB's modified hours. The HUB will be closed Dec. 24 - Jan. 3 in observance of Winter Break and will resume modified services beginning the first week of January. Students may schedule an appointment using our online scheduling tool.

Note: All ID Card pick-up appointments will take place in the Cash Operations office, located in Warner A-11 (across the hall from The HUB). All appointments must be pre-scheduled and will be offered on a limited basis on. View available appointments.

New, Incoming Graduate Students Living Outside of Pittsburgh

Because ID Cards are used for on-campus services and building access, only new graduate students living in the Pittsburgh area and taking in-person courses for the spring 2021 semester will receive an ID Card at this time.

New Faculty & Staff

The HUB has partnered with the Human Resources Service Center on implementing the following practice for ID Card distribution for new faculty and staff. For those faculty and staff who will be working remote, ID Card distribution will preferably occur at a later point in time, and in combination with your in-person completion of the Form I-9 once CMU returns to normal business operations. At that time, the HR Service Center will distribute your ID Card to you. In the meantime, however, we still encourage you to submit your photo using the online photo submission application

If you are a new faculty or staff member who is not working remote and/or are in need of your ID Card for another purpose, you can schedule an appointment for pick-up. You will need to submit a photo using the online photo submission application and a government-issued photo ID must be presented upon pick-up.

Note: All ID Card pick-up appointments will take place in the Cash Operations office, located in Warner A-11 (across the hall from The HUB). All appointments must be pre-scheduled and will be offered on a limited basis. View available appointments.

Sponsored Individuals or Groups

Sponsored ID Card requests may be made on an ad-hoc basis by the sponsoring party. A Sponsored ID Card Request form (pdf) must be completed and submitted to idplus@andrew.cmu.edu, along with the sponsored individual's photo. The sponsored individual should then schedule an appointment to pick-up their ID Card. The Sponsored ID Card Request form should be submitted prior to the ID Card pick-up appointment. A government-issued photo ID must be presented upon pick-up. Any fees associated must be paid for upon pick-up by check (made out to Carnegie Mellon University), with an Oracle string, or charged to a student account (if applicable).

Note: All ID Card pick-up appointments will take place in the Cash Operations office, located in Warner A-11 (across the hall from The HUB). All appointments must be pre-scheduled and will be offered on a limited basis. View available appointments
