May graduates may download their CeDiplomas free of charge by logging in to Student Information Online (SIO), navigating to the Graduation and Diplomas page under the Academic Info tab, and clicking "Download CeDiploma."
Diploma and Degree Verifications
May graduates can request degree verification letters and official transcripts showing their degrees before their paper diplomas arrive. To learn more, visit the May 2020 Diploma and Degree Verifications webpage.

Graduation Steps in SIO
Diploma & Commencement Program Name
The deadline for May graduates to verify diploma information in SIO was April 30, 2020.
While it is not yet time for August diplomas to be ordered, August graduates are permitted to participate in commencement ceremonies and were asked to enter their names for the Record of Graduates into SIO by the April 30 deadline. August graduates will be contacted at a later date about verifying their diploma information.
Degree, Major, & Graduation Date
If any of this information was displayed incorrectly in SIO, students were asked to contact their academic advisors or the advisor of the major/minor in question.
Commencement Ceremony Attendance
Graduating students did not need to fill out this SIO field. Once future in-person commencement ceremony plans have been finalized, students will be contacted.
Diploma Delivery Address
May graduates were asked to enter or update their diploma delivery address on the SIO Graduation and Diplomas page by May 29, 2020.
Those who were not able to enter an address by the deadline should email email@example.com once a delivery address is available. Please note that while the University Registrar’s Office can ship to both domestic and international addresses, we are unable to ship to departmental addresses or SMC boxes. Residential addresses are strongly preferred.
August graduates will receive instructions about entering their diploma delivery address as their graduation date approaches.
Student Account Balance
Graduating students were asked to check their student account balances in SIO and make any necessary payments by May 29, 2020 in order to ensure timely diploma delivery.
Virtual Conferral of Degrees
On Sunday, May 17, the CMU community came together at the Virtual Conferral of Degrees to recognize the outstanding achievements of the Class of 2020.
A video of the conferral ceremony is available on the Virtual Conferral of Degrees webpage.
Class of 2020 Commencement
Carnegie Mellon is committed to bringing the Class of 2020 together for a commencement ceremony on campus in the future. Additional details about this commencement, including the date, will be announced as soon as the current crisis subsides and campus operations return to normal. In the meantime, we welcome ideas from graduating students as we continue to design this event. Please send your ideas to us at 2020Commencementideas@andrew.cmu.edu.
Regalia (Caps & Gowns)
All graduates are still welcome to purchase their commencement regalia online through the University Store. Regalia can be shipped within the United States; however, due to the outbreak of COVID-19, we are not able to ship items to international addresses. If you are interested in international shipping and would like to make arrangements to have your order delivered when current shipping restrictions are lifted, please contact the University Stores.
