The HUB supports graduating students with preparing for graduation and distributing diplomas to all Carnegie Mellon students.
Degrees are conferred by academic departments in August, December and May of the calendar year. The campus-wide commencement ceremony is held in May at the Pittsburgh location.
Important Diploma Information
- Departments will be unable to hand out your diploma before or after the diploma ceremony. There are no exceptions to this rule.
- If you are unable to attend the diploma ceremony, your diploma will be mailed to you. We will begin mailing diplomas around June 3. Please contact your academic department or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with your mailing address if this is the case.
- If you would prefer to pick up your diploma in The HUB, please note that a moratorium on diploma releases will be in effect for two weeks after Commencement - until June 1. Because of our required diploma tracking procedures and certification processes, we will not be able to release any diplomas for those two weeks. Please e-mail email@example.com if you wish to pick up your diploma after June 1.
- If you have an outstanding financial or community obligation to the university, you will receive an empty case at the diploma ceremony with an enclosed letter. You will not receive your diploma until the obligation is settled. Should you meet your obligation after the Commencement Ceremony, the diploma will not be released until June 1.
