Associate Director of Enrollment Services for Summer Studies
As Associate Director of Enrollment Services for Summer Studies, Amy Yearwood is responsible for creating a strategic plan to guide best practices for summer programming at Carnegie Mellon. Amy is originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and grew up in Austin, Texas. After graduating high school, she went on to study at the University of Pennsylvania where she earned a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in Secondary Education.
Amy's first job was with a non-profit organization in Philadelphia, where she was an adult basic education instructor. After her husband, Gabby, was admitted to the PhD program in Anthropology at the University of Virginia, she was fortunate to serve as Assistant Dean of Admission and Director of Multicultural Recruitment there for three years. After moving back to Austin, Amy worked in the Dean of Students Office at the University of Texas for one year working on orientation programs. In 2000, she moved over to the Office of Admissions and over the course of 12 years, grew her portfolio to include: volunteer coordination, Student Ambassador program, out of state recruitment, enrollment management for College of Natural Sciences, external relations, admissions transportation and customer service. Her title upon departure was Associate Director of Admission, External and Constituent Relations (Miscellaneous Services).
Amy lives on the North Side with her husband Gabby and daughter Zora. They have two rescue pups named LeeLoo and Cinco, a cat named Ziggy, and seven backyard chickens.
