Desk Services Managers will serve on a team and supervise the Desk Services Attendants at our three desk locations. DSMs will be assigned to one home desk to supervise and are expected to approach their work with a positive and energetic attitude, be organized, be flexible, willing to learn new software and processes, anticipate needs of their staff, participate in some decision-making processes and provide support for both the DSAs and the professional staff.

The Summer Housing Administrative Desk Manager will work directly with the Housing Operations Coordinator to assist in the areas of Desk Services, Workday, Summer Housing, and general Housing Office needs.  This position will work office hours within Housing Services in an administrative role.

The Room Assignments Assistant will assist first-year students with completing their Housing and Dining applications and will answer questions about housing buildings and meal plan options. This position requires excellent communication and customer service skills, the ability to learn new software, keep all student information confidential, and work on several projects simultaneously, a willingness to take initiative, and a positive energetic attitude.

Approximate number of positions: One full-time position during the summer

The Summer Facilities Assistant will support the Housing Facilities team by completing room and common area inspections, inputting work orders, assisting with battery changes and summer projects and following up with staff members across campus.

A Facilities Crew Technician moves and handles housing materials and furniture, replaces light bulbs and smoke detector batteries and standardizes bedroom and lounge areas, in addition to other scheduled projects.

The Facilities Crew Lead supervises and manages the Facilities crew by organizing and completing schedules, projects, daily progress updates, and housing unit inspection, as well as overseeing communication between the Facilities Crew and the Housing Services representatives. Crew Leads are also expected to fulfill crew responsibilities when necessary.

Academic Year 2019-2020 Positions

The Makerspace Manager, in addition to the duties described under the Makerspace Attendant position, will oversee the running of the Morewood Makerspace and supervise the Makerspace Attendants.

The Makerspace Manager will complete office hours within Housing Services and attend all makerspace meetings/trainings, working approximately 15-20 hours per week.

Makerspace Attendants (MAs) will work at the Morewood Gardens Makerspace, where they are expected to have a working knowledge of the materials and services the Makerspace offers, including one area of specialization, greet all patrons with a positive and energetic attitude, be very attentive and flexible, and be eager to learn new software and processes. MAs may be invited to design and teach workshops in their area of specialization to Makerspace Patrons.

An Administrative Desk Service Manager will work directly with the Graduate Coordinator for Housing Services (GC), Housing Operations Coordinator, as well as the Desk Service Managers to help oversee and manage Desk Services. The ADSM is expected to approach their work with a positive attitude, be well-organized, adaptable and participate in decision making processes.

The Room Selection Assistant is part of a small team of students who work closely with the Housing Services office to advertise and execute the room selection process. The time commitment is 5-10 hours per week, depending on the room selection calendar. 

Approximate number of positions: 3, employed November-March.
