McGill House-Housing Services - Carnegie Mellon University

McGill House

McGill is the only all-women, mixed-class community at CMU. Why an all-women community? McGill is a space in which residents flourish in the understanding that a woman’s place is everywhere. McGill offers the unique opportunity to be in an intimate environment of just 71 residents; therefore, students will have frequent and direct access to women mentors and leaders including their Resident Assistants, the Gender Ambassador, the Community Advisor, the Housefellow, and guest faculty.

In this community of women supporting and empowering other women, students explore their intersecting identities through in-house programming and educational opportunities. A hallmark event in McGill is the Brunch & Conversation where students discuss what it means to be a woman and the challenges they may experience with this shared identity. As McGill is a mixed-class community, students looking for continuity in their living-learning experience can choose to continue living in McGill throughout their Carnegie Mellon journey.

Consisting of prime double and prime single rooms with semi-private bathrooms, McGill shares a large outdoor courtyard with Boss House and offers a first-floor community lounge with recreation and television areas, study lounges, and laundry facilities.
