Worth the Risk

Star Volleyball Middle Hitter/Chemical Engineer Student
Chisom Amaechi has worked incredibly hard to become a dominant middle hitter on the Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team and a brilliant chemical engineer with her sights set on a Ph.D. from Columbia University. The senior from New Haven, Connecticut is the first person in her family to venture out of state for college, and judging from her accomplishments and the remarks by her peers and coach, the risk has more than paid off. Chisom amorously praises Carnegie Mellon for helping her to build her character, improve her faith, and shape her current outlook and philosophy on life. Her optimism and resolve have made an especially sound impact on the volleyball team. Tartans head volleyball coach Kim Kelly spoke not only of Chisom's unfailing spirit on the court, but of the positive effect her attitude and drive for perfection have on the team.
