Graduate Orientation Canvas Course

Dear Incoming Graduate Students,

We hope this email finds you well and excited for the upcoming in-person orientation programming! Following this email, we will share the Fall 2025 Graduate Orientation Canvas course with all incoming master’s and doctoral students. You will receive an email inviting you to join the course that is specific to the level of degree you will be pursuing in the fall. The course contains information about university resources relating to academics, health and well-being, finances, life at CMU, safety, and much more. It also includes the full schedule for University-Wide New Graduate Student Orientation, as well as links to recordings of the four webinars in the Pre-Arrival Webinar Series. The Canvas course also contains three required asynchronous modules that should be completed as soon as possible, and before the start of the semester.

Please take time to read through the course carefully, as you will find this information helpful when you begin and as you continue your studies at Carnegie Mellon.

We encourage you to install Canvas on your phone before arriving on campus, and enable push notifications from the Canvas system. During Orientation, we will send notifications via Canvas to let you know about potential weather-related location changes and other important, real-time updates.

Reminder: Register to Attend Orientation

If you have not already done so, please complete this form to let us know whether you plan to attend University-Wide New Graduate Student Orientation on August 11, 12, and 13. The suggested deadline to register is Thursday, July 31. We hope to meet you on campus soon!
