In 1998, Green Practices Committee was established to develop a more comprehensive waste reduction and energy conservation program. The committee, which is comprised of staff, faculty and students, will establish priorities, goals, and mechanisms for implementing environmental practices.  Click on the Green Practices logo above to view the Green Practices web site.

Energy Management can be defined as the organizational efforts to efficiently manage the use and costs of utilities while effectively providing for the needs of the campus.

The mission of the FMS Energy Management Program is straightforward in its goals and broad in its scope. It affects nearly all aspects of the university. Its key objectives in priority order are:

1.      Reduce end-use campus energy consumption;
2.      Lower energy supply purchase rates;
3.      Distribute energy supply more efficiently on campus; and
4.      To be willing to be environmentally responsible even when it’s not profitable. For example—wind power electricity supply.
