Chief of Police

Chief Tom Ogden began his career as a police officer for the Borough of Carnegie in 1979. He served with the Mt Lebanon Police Department from 1980 to 2008.  He held all five ranking positions in that agency and served as chief for his last 10 years there until retirement.

Tom has served as the Chief of Police at Carnegie Mellon University since 2008. He is a graduate of the PA State Police Academy, and the 181st Session of the FBI National Academy.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Point Park University and a graduate degree in public policy from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a senior member of the PA Chiefs of Police Accreditation Commission and serves as a professional consultant for a number of entities.
