Finance Division Fiscal Year 2017 Retrospective
The Carnegie Mellon University Finance Division provides financial management, enterprise planning and stewardship in support of education, research, and the university’s strategic goals.
Through the direction of the vice president for finance and chief financial officer – and the division’s leadership team – the Finance Division oversees Budget and Financial Planning, Business Systems and Services, Controller’s Office, Procurement Services, Treasurer’s Office and University Audit Services. Within those units are critical business functions including, accounts receivable and payable, financial reporting, financial systems, international operations, payroll, procurement and the university purchasing card and expense reporting.
The Finance Division’s mission is to provide university partners and stakeholders with the tools and resources needed to be well-informed leaders and effective decision makers.
This annual retrospective documents the Finance Division’s contributions and accomplishments in fiscal year 2017, achieved through staff dedication, expertise and ambition. Credit goes to each member of the division staff, university leadership and campus partners for their ongoing collaboration, insights and support.

In the upcoming year our service model will focus on problem solving, engaging and connecting to the mission, realizing opportunities for positive change, being the voice of the customer, doing the right thing, committing to excellence and clearing paths for our staff and partners to learn, contribute, innovate and thrive.
The Finance Division is proud of its accomplishments and will continue to steward the university’s financials, to execute the projects identified and initiated as a result of the strategic planning process, and to achieve our goals through measurable standards in support of the goals and vision of Carnegie Mellon University.
