Attention S3 users: Register for 2fa today

We are writing as a follow-up to Provost Farnam Jahanian’s message to the Carnegie Mellon community regarding the launch of a new service to better protect CMU user accounts and reduce the risk for security breaches.

All Student Services Suite (S3) users, including faculty members who use S3 Faculty Course & Grade Information, are required to register for the Two-Factor Authentication (2fa) service before April 20, 2017.

Instead of waiting for the April 20 deadline, we encourage you to register for 2fa as soon as possible. This will ensure a smooth process for upcoming course registration and mid-semester grading periods. In addition, your prompt registration will immediately add an extra layer of security that will protect the sensitive student information contained in the S3.
