Whitefoot named to World Economic Forum Global Future Councils

EPP Assistant Professor Kate Whitefoot has been named to the World Economic Forum's network of Global Future Councils, and has been selected to serve on the Clean Air Council for the 2020-21 term. According to the World Economic Forum, the Global Future Councils are "the world’s foremost multistakeholder and interdisciplinary knowledge network dedicated to promoting innovative thinking to shape a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable future."

The 2020-21 term comprises 40 councils centered around topics such as the "New Agenda for Economic Growth and Recovery"; "Systemic Inequalities and Social Cohesion"; "Net-Zero Transition"; and "Artificial Intelligence for Humanity." Each council has 20-30 experts from academia, government, international organizations, business, and civil society. Global Future Council members provide strategic insights, scientific evidence, forward guidance, and a multidisciplinary understanding of major issues that will shape the post-COVID world.

The announcement follows CMU President Jahanian's visit to the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting earlier this year in Davos where he said, "The World Economic Forum represents a powerful opportunity for CMU to engage with partners around the world and help inform the policies and practices that will emerge from these dialogues."
