PhD Graduate Featured on Energy Podcast
Casey Canfield, a 2016 EPP PhD graduate, was recently a guest on the Scott Institute's Energy Bite podcast. Canfield lent her expertise to the weekly radio program by answering questions related to smart meters, utilities communication, and consumer decision-making.
In one episode, Canfield explains how we can deal with the hacking of smart meters. "We can improve the security of smart meters both in terms of hardware and software. Some have talked about improving the resiliency of the grid. This means that instead of making the electrical grid impossible to attack, we want the grid to be quick to recover."
The 90-second radio spot airs weekly on Pittsburgh's 90.5 WESA.
