Krishnamurti Participates in Federal Trade Commission's Consumer Disclosure Panel
The Federal Trade Commission hosted a public workshop, “Putting Disclosures to the Test,” on September 15 to examine the testing and evaluation of disclosures that companies make to consumers about advertising claims, privacy practices, and other information. The workshop was aimed to ecourage and improve the evaluation and testing of disclosures by industry, academics, and the FTC.
Assistant Research Professor Tamar Krishnamurti discussed research on informed consent disclosures for medical studies, along with panelists Serge Egelman (UC Berkeley) and Florian Schaub (University of Michigan) whose work focuses on contextually automating Android smartphone permissions disclosures, and the on contextualizing and personalizing privacy notices, respectively.
