Alum Contributes to Power Sector Carbon Index

Adam Goldstein (MS ’17), worked as part of an interdisciplinary team led by Professors Costa Samaras and Inês Azevedo to create the Carnegie Mellon Power Sector Carbon Index. The public website uses publicly accessible data to create an easily understood, analytically transparent, and timely summary of the current trends in United States power sector carbon dioxide emissions intensity.

Adam was responsible for managing the methodology white paper , which transparently documents the technical process used in the index, as well as helping Greg Schivley, the lead graduate student researcher, to develop the overall method. Professors Haibo Zhai and H. Scott Matthews also contributed to the project.
