Why should you hire EST&P students and graduates?
EST&P graduates receive an MS engineering degree and are well informed on the broad issues of energy supply, demand, storage, utilization, policy, sustainability, and the environment. Graduates also have depth engineering specialization in one of the disciplinary concentration areas identified in the sidebar.
EST&P is a professional master's program and our graduates seek full-time employment in energy industry, consulting, university, government, and non-profit sectors. Students also seek professional energy internships during the summer between their second and third semesters of study. See where our alumni work and read more about them.

EST&P graduates can be an asset to your organization because of their technical and engineering expertise. As part of their required energy coursework, EST&P students also learn to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams and communicate through written and oral presentations. These professional skills, plus the technical and engineering skills, are what's needed for graduates to excel in positions of responsibility at: utility & manufacturing companies, energy suppliers, alternative & renewable energy companies, power generation & distribution equipment companies, energy intensive industries, energy efficiency and sustainability practices, consulting companies, NGOs/ non-profits, government & academia.
How do you go about hiring an EST&P student or graduate?
EST&P partners with the CMU Career & Professional Development Center (CPDC) to facilitate on-campus recruiting opportunities for employers interested in hiring our students. Visit the CPDC Employer Website to learn more about posting jobs, on-campus recruiting timelines, career fair dates, and additional opportunities to connect with students and increase your brand on our campus. All recruiting activities are managed via CMU’s online recruiting system, Handshake. Employers are encouraged to create a free account to view student profiles and stay in the loop on upcoming events.
