Hazardous Waste No Tag No Take

As we instruct in laboratory safety training, it is ESSENTIAL that all containers of hazardous waste submitted for removal have a proper CMU waste disposal tag.  The Environmental Protection Agency requires all generators of hazardous waste to properly identify the materials removed as waste to their contents and hazard properties.  The tag that you fill out AND SIGN TO SIGNIFY THE CONTENTS OF THE CONTAINER is needed for the university to properly meet this EPA obligation.

The waste contractors who come to your laboratory to make pick-ups are instructed NOT TO TAKE any un-tagged containers.  The only exception will be if there are multiple containers of the exact same thing, one tag is sufficient for all the containers.  You can order waste tags from the EH&S website main page, in the beige box on the right.
