Join Dining Services as we celebrate the new Schatz Dining Room and other fun, food-filled events in the month of October!

Schatz Grand Opening Celebration

Join Dining Services for the Schatz Dining Room Grand Opening Celebration, Friday, October 4 from 4 – 6 p.m.  During this open house event, you can explore the updated space, meet Chartwells chefs and registered dietitian and enjoy a taste of the new menu highlighting local, sustainable and diverse cuisine. The sampling menu will include:

  • Butternut Squash Bisque
  • Kale and Beet Salad with a Citrus Vinaigrette
  • Coconut Curry Chicken over Basmati Rice
  • Beyond Bratwurst on Pretzel Bun with Cauliflower Cheese Sauce and Red Cabbage Slaw
  • Cheesecake Tart with Pumpkin Spice Whipped Cream

At 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., experience the new built-in Teaching Kitchen with Chartwells’ chef Sarah and chef Taty and learn how to carve a pie pumpkin, transform your pumpkin seeds into honey-toasted pepitas and whip-up pumpkin spice whipped cream.

This event is free and open to all members of the Carnegie Mellon University community.

Nourish x Superfoods Sampling: Pumpkin

This month’s superfood is Pumpkin, a seasonal favorite that is jam-packed with Vitamin A! Enjoy pumpkin smoothie samples from the Nourish Kitchen, our on-campus allergen-friendly kitchen, and enjoy the flavor of fall. We’ll be on hand with information on the wellness benefits of pumpkin!

Join us for a fun fall day of celebrating the season with local apples and homegrown farm-fresh ingredients at our annual Applefest Celebration!  Featuring a local food and farmer's market, you can use your DineXtra, cash, credit, or debit to grab fresh and local produce at the peak of harvest season, mouth-watering fresh-pressed local apple ciders, delicious apple and pumpkin pies, artisan bread, and local honey.

Farm Meets Sea Themed Dinner

We’ll be celebrating National Seafood Month with a “farm meets sea” themed dinner. Our chefs will be pairing local and seasonal ingredients with sustainably raised seafood for an unforgettable evening celebrating all things farm and sea.

We’ll be on hand with information regarding sustainable fishing practices as well as information on the nutritional benefits of incorporating fish into your diet.

Throwback Thursday Dinner
