National Nutrition Month Kick-off Event
Friday, March 3, 11 am - 1 pm, Kirr Commons - Cohon Center
Join Dining Services for a kick-off tabling event to learn more about National Nutrition Month® and healthy eating. Also, taste delicious samples of a vegan quinoa salad from Evgefstos!
Lunch and Learn: Simple Swaps in the Kitchen
Friday, March 17, 12 pm - 1 pm, Danforth Conference Room - Cohon Center (second floor)
Learn how to make simple ingredient swaps for healthful, satisfying, and delicious meals. If you are looking to incorporate more nutrient-dense foods into your routine, this presentation will make it easy for you to Put Your Best Fork Forward! Join the Staff Council Wellness Committee for a National Nutrition Month® celebration featuring a wellness lecture and food demonstration presented by CMU Dining Services Registered Dietitian Jessica Tones and Executive Chef Victor Schmidt. Enjoy a demonstration of the Mediterranean zoodle salad and light lunch:

Learn to eat well on campus and Put Your Best Fork Forward at the National Nutrition Month Extravaganza! Events include:
A healthy eating resource fair in Danforth Lounge with tips for building a balanced plate, eating on the run, eating mindfully, vegetarian and vegan eating, reducing food waste, healthy cooking, smart snacking, and more! Also, taste the nominees and vote for the Best Salad on Campus. Wellness lectures and food demonstrations will be located in the Danforth Conference Room. All sessions feature a chef-led demonstration!
- 11:30 am: Smart Snacking - Presented by the CMU Peer Health Advocates
Do you love to snack? Snacking is a great way to boost nutrition, curb cravings, and stay fueled throughout your busy day. The CMU Peer Health Advocates will share tips for smart snacking, teach you how to build a healthful snack, and plan ahead so you get the most of your snacks each day! - 12:30 pm: Eat Well @CMU - Sponsored by the Plaidvocates - Presented by Dining Services Registered Dietitian Jessica Tones, RD, LDN / Director of Marketing Jon Beck / Executive Chef Victor Schmidt

Our dining team will teach you how to make better-for-you food choices and share some of our favorites healthy dishes on campus. - 1:30 pm: The Power of Plant-forward Eating - Presented by Dining Services Registered Dietitian Jessica Tones, RD, LDN
In this workshop, you will learn more about the power of plant foods, including benefits to your health and a more sustainable earth. Whether you are vegan, vegetarian, or simply want to eat less meat, our Dining dietitian will teach you how to plan plant-forward meals that ensure that you are getting all of the nutrients that you need!
