Julie Sweet is delighted to be joining the Children’s School as part of the Kindergarten Team. Prior to working at the Children’s School, Julie was the Lead Jr. Kindergarten teacher at The Goddard School in Peters Township. She also taught kindergarten enrichment and before and after-school programs with Extended Day Services at South Fayette Elementary School and Aiken Elementary School, in addition to substitute teaching grades K-6 in the Avonworth, Mt. Lebanon and Upper St. Clair School districts. Julie is a graduate of Miami University in Ohio with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications. She had a 15-year career in advertising before returning to school at Robert Morris University in 2013 to pursue a Masters in Instructional Leadership. She received her PreK-4 Teaching certification in January 2017 and has two remaining courses to complete her masters.
Julie is originally from Dayton, Ohio, and has lived in Pittsburgh for 23 years. She currently lives in Upper St. Clair with her husband, Jesse, who is an attorney for ViacomCBS. Julie and Jesse have two sons, Sam and Charlie. Sam is a freshman attending the University of Georgia studying International Relations and playing on the club hockey team. Charlie is a junior at Upper St. Clair High School and also plays hockey for the USC Panthers and Mt. Lebanon Hornets.
Julie enjoys spending time with her family, watching her sons play hockey, reading with her cat, Badger, on her lap, and learning new things every day. One of her favorite quotes is “Education is not preparation for life. Education is life” – John Dewey.
