Carnegie Mellon University

Study Abroad Programs and Scholarships

Explore, engage, and immerse yourself in one of our summer study abroad programs in China, Germany, or Spain.

We encourage all students—particularly Modern Languages majors and minors—to study abroad. Explore additional options to study abroad for a semester, academic year, or during the summer in a wide variety of countries around the world, including in Doha, Qatar, where Carnegie Mellon has a branch campus. In collaboration with the Office of International Education, Modern Languages faculty members work with students to help select a program that best meets their educational and personal goals.

Study Abroad Scholarships & Funding

Our department, along with the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences, offers study abroad scholarships for students to study for a semester, full-year, or summer overseas. Scholarships can be put towards tuition, room and board, airfare and/or book expenses when participating in any accredited study abroad program. A printable document with more information about these awards is available [pdf] as a fillable form.

Many students are also able to use their Carnegie Mellon funding for study abroad. Visit the university's Office of International Education and Study Abroad websites for more information.
