Study Abroad Programs and Scholarships

Explore, engage and immerse yourself in one of our summer study abroad programs in China, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Jordan or Spain.

We encourage all students—particularly LCAL majors and minors—to study abroad. Explore additional options to study abroad for a semester, academic year or during the summer in a wide variety of countries around the world, including in Doha, Qatar, where Carnegie Mellon has a branch campus. In collaboration with the Office of International Education, LCAL faculty members work with students to help select a program that best meets their educational and personal goals.

Study Abroad Scholarships & Funding

Our department offers study abroad scholarships for students to study for a semester, full-year or summer for travel overseas. Awarded funds can be put towards tuition, room and board, airfare and/or book expenses when participating in any accredited study abroad program. Learn more about potential scholarships and access the application.

Additionally, Dietrich College offers funding for undergraduate students to study abroad. Read more on the Dietrich College Study/Travel Abroad Grant Program website.

Many students are also able to use their Carnegie Mellon funding for study abroad. Visit the Office of International Education's Study Abroad website for more information.
