Campus Employment

To search for and explore opportunities for campus employment students should use CMU's online recruiting system, Handshake.

The department will send you announcements about internship opportunities that come our way. However, you should also find these internships listed in Handshake, since we share internships that come to our attention—usually through our alumni—with the Career and Professional Development Center.

For financial support with a worthwhile but unpaid or low-paid summer internship, see the Dietrich College Summer Internship Opportunity Grants program. For feedback on your grant application, contact your faculty advisor.

Find a job or learn career advice on Idealist Careers.

Career Development

The Career and Professional Development Center (CPDC) is the English Department’s and your partner in helping you explore career pathways and succeed in your career goals.

You can schedule an appointment with the English Department’s CPDC liaison (don’t wait until it's too late):

Diane Taylor
(412) 268-2064

Our liaison can help you with ideas for careers, career preparation, resumes and cover letters, part-time and summer internships, and full-time job search strategies.
