Bio

Maria Ferrato earned her BA in English from Kent State University in 2021. Drawn to the field of education and literacy, she moved to Cleveland, Ohio to serve a year with AmeriCorps via City Year, working with partner teachers in seventh grade math and English classes to provide whole-classroom support and lead after-school tutoring sessions. This experience inspired her interest in pursuing a rhetorical analysis of the texts used in America's education system, leading her to Carnegie Mellon University.
