Brian Staszel has been the Multimedia Designer & Video Director for the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute since 2002. In addition to shooting and editing science documentaries, he creates interactive experiences for the Web and animated explainer videos. Brian is currently teaching a digital storytelling and animation course titled Introduction to Multimedia Design here at CMU.

His video work at the Robotics Institute has been credited in programs produced for PBS and The Discovery Channel and are the result of having a front row seat to the development of amazing technologies. Brian has also produced award-winning work in collaboration with CMU’s Human Computer Interaction Institute.

Prior to coming to Carnegie Mellon, Staszel worked on a team at Brady Communications that produced interactive projects for clients such as PNC Bank, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Mylan Pharmaceuticals and Phipps Conservatory. Brian won a silver medal in the New York Festivals competition for his work at Brady. He taught several filmmaking and cinematography courses at Pittsburgh Filmmakers from 2000-2015 and prior to that was a teaching assistant in the audio recording and mixing studios at NYU. His films have been featured in festivals in the US and broadcast in the UK and Japan.
