Accommodations & Meals

General Information on Accomodations, Meals, and Transportation 

Meals:

  • A continental breakfast is available at the hotel Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  • Lunch and Dinner will be provided for attendees Friday and Saturday. Lunch will be provided Sunday.

Accommodation:

Hotel: OurCS attendees will stay in a shared room, two students per room, at the Residence Inn, Oakland, below, except CMU and Pitt students who will stay in their usual accommodation. Check in is Thursday, October 17 after 3:00 p.m. Breakfast will be provided by the hotel.

We have rooms reserved (and paid) for you for 3 nights October 17, 18, and 19. You do not need to do anything about accommodation. Roommates will be assigned (taking your registration roommate preference into account).

At the hotel: On Thursday, October 17, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., you can meet other OurCS attendees and CMU graduate students in the hotel hospitality room. Refreshments will be served. We look forward to seeing you there!

Transport:

Transport from the hotel to Carnegie Mellon:
Each morning (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) a bus will leave the Residence Inn at two times: 
8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. (approx). Drop off is on Forbes Ave. and Morewood Ave.

Transport from Carnegie Mellon back to hotel:
Bus will leave CMU, Forbes Ave. in front of Gates/Hillman Building at two times:
-- Friday, 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. (approx)
-- Saturday, 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (approx)
-- Sunday, 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. (approx)

Transport to hotel from airport:
The 28X bus serves this route. You take the inbound route to Oakland and you can buy ConnectCards (bus passes) at the airport in the "landside terminal near Door 6". Check the 28X shedule for departure times from the airport.

You can also take an Uber or Lyft (approx. $40-$45 one way) or a shuttle (approx. $28 one way) from the airport. Please check rates. Super Shuttle rates: https://www.supershuttle.com/locations/pittsburgh-pit/

Laptops at OurCS:

We encourage you to bring your own laptop to the OurCS conference if at all possible.

We will make it easy for you to register it and work wirelessly at CMU.

Please let us know if you do NOT plan on bringing a laptop.
