Asymptomatic COVID-19 Test Option

For Summer and December 2020 CMU Graduates Participating in 2021 Commencement

As part of the university’s ongoing strategy to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community, we expect that all participants in the May 22 or 23, 2021 commencement ceremonies have obtained a negative asymptomatic test result prior to engaging in any on-campus activities.

To assist with this expectation, we have partnered with Quest Diagnostics to provide a free asymptomatic at-home COVID-19 test kit to CMU Summer and December 2020 graduates who are participating in commencement.

If you would like to access this free asymptomatic test option, you may request a test kit through Quest Diagnostics free of charge. This unobserved, self-collected PCR test kit will be sent to your home address and should be ordered no later than May 10, 2021.

Receiving Results

Quest Diagnostics will email you with a link to your test results within 24-48 hours of receipt of the test kit. Sign up for MyQuest at or download the MyQuest app.

If you receive notification of a positive result, Quest Diagnostics will provide your results to your local county health department to initiate contact tracing.

Additionally, you should:

  • Immediately isolate yourself from others and not attend in-person events, including CMU's commencement
  • Contact your primary care provider for guidance and care
