Facial Covering Guidelines

CMU will continue to monitor the overall COVID-19 landscape both regionally and nationally to inform and guide its ongoing mitigations. The COVID-19 situation is fluid, so the university will continue to reassess the continued requirement for facial coverings/masks based on epidemiological data, vaccination rates, virus prevalence and best health practices.

Facial Covering Terminology

These rules are non-negotiable and will be enforced by the University. Violations will be addressed with corrective actions and may receive sanctions.

EXPECTED

These guidelines must be followed but enforcement is the responsibility of the individual. Individuals should see “expected” as an obligation to the community and an action they will self-impose and self-regulate.

STRONGLY RECOMMEND

These guidelines are best practices for the health and safety of the individual and others in the community, based on scientific data, but are up to the individual to follow.
