Summer Conference Housing

Carnegie Mellon University offers overnight accommodations that combine convenience and affordability within a welcoming collegiate atmosphere. Off-campus and on-campus apartments and traditional resident facilities are available from June 1st through the first Saturday in August.

Guest Information

Whether this will be your first experience staying with us, or a return visit, we look forward to your arrival.  As a part of our mission to make your stay a pleasant experience, below is some important information for your visit:

Check-in/Check-out
Check-in is after 3:00 PM on your scheduled arrival date. Check-out is before noon on your scheduled departure date.

Keys
Carry your key with you at all times, as your key is needed for access to your room or suite. Do not prop doors open; this poses a security risk to guests. Report any lost keys to conference staff immediately.

Internet Service
Wireless internet service is available in all residence halls. Access codes for the CMU-GUEST network are available for an additional cost at the Summer Housing Guest Services office, located on the first floor of Stever House, open daily from 1:30pm - 8:30pm.

Micro-fridge Rental
Micro-fridges are available to rent at an additional cost. Please visit the the Summer Housing Guest Services office, located on the first floor of Stever House, open daily from 1:30pm - 8:30pm for rental information.

Safety/Security
Please lock your door even if you are in the room. Do not leave valuables in your room unattended. Immediately report any missing items or suspicious persons and activities to campus police. In case of emergency, follow the evacuation procedures on the back of your room door. Do not tamper with any equipment, including smoke detectors and fire alarms. Individuals and or conference/camp groups will be charged for tampering.

Smoking
All rooms and buildings on-campus are smoke-free. Smoking outdoors is only permitted in designated areas.

Vending
Machines are located in the lobby or lower level areas. Please ask an information desk or conference staff member for locations. Scotty's Market, our on-campus grocer, is located on the first floor of the Forbes Beeler Apartments and is open to guests and the general public.

Guest Frequently Asked Questions

A: We offer all guests weekly housekeeping and linen changes (if applicable), basic furnishings to include a twin-size bed, chest of drawers, desk and chair, closet or wardrobe, vending machines, laundry facilities, lounges, kitchens, fitness rooms, and recreation rooms.
A: CMU offers a wide variety of housing options, both air-conditioned and non-air conditioned, including traditional residence hall rooms, apartments and suites. Facilities include private, semi-private or community bathrooms based on housing type.
A: Yes, micro-fridges are all available at an additional cost and and complimentary guest wireless internet access is available.
A: Due to the popularity of cell phones amongst our guests, CMU has opted to remove the phones from our residence halls.

A: Our Summer Housing Guest Services Office is located on the first floor of at Stever House (1030 Morewood Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15213) and our staff is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Check-in location may vary based on group preferences; please check with your group coordinator to confirm prior to arrival.
A: Guests may park in the East Campus Garage, either by pre-arranging a pass from Conferences & Event Services for a fee (per day) or via the pay station located in the garage (hourly rate). Guests must coordinate parking through Conference & Event Services if they wish to park in the garage overnight.
