Manage 2fa Devices and Registration

2fa at CMU supports mobile devices that allow apps (e.g. smart phones, tablets) and Help Center provided hardware tokens.

  • Smart phone (iOS, Android)
  • Tablet (iPad or Android)
  • Hardware token (available from the Help Center)
  • U2F (e.g. Yubikey)
  1. Visit https://2fa.cmu.edu. If necessary, log in with your Andrew userID and password.
  2. Click Manage a Registered Device.
  3. Authenticate with DUO using your preferred method.
  4. Click +Add another device.
  5. Complete the wizard to add a device.
  1. Visit https://2fa.cmu.edu.
  2. Click Manage a Registered Device.
  3. Authenticate with DUO using your preferred method.
  4. Click Device Options next to the device you would like to remove.
  5. Click the Trash button next to the device you would like to remove.

Note: You may not remove your ONLY device. If you wish to remove it, first add another, then delete the original.

If you need Duo Push on your new phone (e.g. if you replaced your phone with a new model but kept the same phone number), complete the following:

  1. Visit https://2fa.cmu.edu.
  2. Authenticate with DUO using your preferred method.
  3. Click Reactivate an Existing Device.
  4. Click Device Options next to the device/number you would like to reactivate.
  5. Click Reactivate Duo Mobile.
  6. Follow the instructions to complete Duo Mobile activation.
Note: If you have a new device with a different operating system OR a different phone number than your old device, you will need to remove the old device using the 2fa self-service tool.

If you authenticate with more than one device, you can specify a default device.

  1. Visit https://2fa.cmu.edu.
  2. Click Manage a Registered Device.
  3. Authenticate with DUO using your preferred method.
  4. Select your preferred default device from the Default Device dropdown.
  5. Click Save.

Note: You can also select an option to automatically send a Push to your default device using the When I log in dropdown.

  1. Visit https://2fa.cmu.edu.
  2. Click Manage a Registered Device.
  3. Click Device Options next to the device you want to rename.
  4. Click Change Device Name.
  5. Enter a new name and click Save.
