Windows 8 Operating System Support

DAY: Monday
DATE: September 10, 2012

As Microsoft prepares to release Windows 8 this fall, Computing Services is assessing core software and services for compatibility and future support of the operating system.

At this time, Computing Services does not recommend an upgrade to the Windows 8 operating system, which is still in the pre-release stages. We make this recommendation to prevent potential loss in productivity or functionality should there be a compatibility issue with essential software or services. To keep the campus community informed of our progress in testing Windows 8 with our products and services, we have established a Windows 8 support page, available at:

http://www.cmu.edu/computing/news/status/win8.html

We will continue to communicate updates on Windows 8 and Computing Services support through this web page and through our official news sources when the evaluation is complete.

Please direct any questions or comments to your departmental administrator, DSP consultant, or the Computing Services Help Center (412-268-4357 or advisor@andrew.cmu.edu.
