Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) Chapter at CMU Win InnoService Design Competition

SASE CMU Team
The Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) Chapter at CMU along with chapters from all over the Northeast Region were asked to participate in a pilot design project competition called InnoService. The prompt was to design and develop the next great consumer product that would benefit the Asian community.
Teams worked throughout the year in putting together prototypes, business model, and assessing the product impact on the lives of the Asian consumer. At the beginning in December, over 20 schools participated, with one team representing each school. Thirteen teams moved forward at midpoint at the Spring Regional Conference in March, and four teams delivered at the National Conference. Final evaluations and sales pitch were performed in front of corporate sponsors this past weekend (October 10-12) at the 2013 SASE National Conference in Philadelphia, PA. The CMU InnoService team comprised of five members: Yiru Yao (Sophomore ECE & Decision Sciences), Joanne Tse (Junior ECE), Raymond Hu (Sophomore MechE), Amy Yuan (Senior ChemE), Reyna Pacis (Junior Chemistry).
The team won the grand prize of $3000 for the idea of a device called Perfek'cha that would always brew the perfect tea. See http://saseconnect.org/  and https://www.facebook.com/SASE
