Chemical Engineering Celebrates 100 years at Carnegie Mellon University

The department of Chemical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University celebrated the 100 th anniversary of its opening on Oct. 16, 2005. In recognition of this milestone the department is organized a day long symposium for its students, faculty, friends and alumni that was held on Oct. 27, 2005 in the Singleton Room of Roberts Hall. The event followed the two-day ChEGSA research symposium and immediately preceded Carnegie Mellon's 2005 homecoming celebration. The purpose of the symposium was to highlight some of the achievements of the department's students and faculty, to explore some of the department's history and to recognize the impact of the department on the chemical engineering profession over the past one hundred years.
