Fixing the 57 Printing Error

For computers getting 0x00000057 when you try to install printer drivers:

  1. Go to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore.
  2. For each file (not folder) right-click.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Select the Security tab.
  5. Click Advanced button on the lower right.
  6. Click the Owner tab.
  7. Click Edit.
  8. Double-click the username you used to login.
  9. Click OK until you exit all the dialogues.
  10. Right-click on file and select Properties.
  11. Click the Security tab.
  12. Click Advanced.
  13. Click Change Permissions on the lower left.
  14. Click Add on lower left.
  15. Type in username (csadmin for most cases).
  16. Click on Allow Full Control under the Allow column.
  17. Click OK until you exit all the dialogues.
  18. Delete the file.
  19. Rinse and repeat until you delete all the files in Driverstore.
  20. Reboot and you should be able to install printer drivers.
