Congratulations on completing your degree in Chemical Engineering!

We are incredibly proud of all the hard work you've done, and all that you've accomplished. Though your relationship with Carnegie Mellon is changing, it's certainly far from over. To celebrate this momentous occasion, we would like to invite you to the Chemical Engineering Virtual Diploma Ceremony!

When: Sunday, May 23, 2021 at 1:30 PM (EST) – Gather Space will open at 1:00 PM for mingling

Where:
Your couch! The event will be presented within a Gather Space for graduating students, faculty and staff while also being webcast for families and friends.

How to Watch or Participate

The ceremony is being simulcast on both a web stream and waiting a gather space (gather.town). Only Faculty, Staff, Graduating Students and current students can participate in the Gather space. Family and friends can use the web stream to view the event.

Current or graduating students, Faculty and Staff

You have the two options for viewing the ceremony, the general use webcast or the Gather space.

Option1: Gather (Recommended)

Over the past year of virtual work, the department has had excellent results using Gather to provide a more natural experience to virtual events. What is Gather you ask? Gather is an online platform that allows users to use avatars to navigate and 2D world and dynamically interact with other users and object using a built in video chat app. The Gather space will allow students to interact with each other and give faculty/staff and opportunity to congratulate students individually. In this time when things are still mostly virtual, we hope this option will allow everyone to have a more natural and engaging experience. If you would like a more interactive experience, we recommend using the ChemE 2021 Commencement Gather Space:

Unfortunately, due to size limitations, only current students, graduating students and faculty/staff can use the Gather Space.

If you are new to Gather, see the "Welcome to Gather" PDF. For more information about the commencement gather space see our 2021 Commencement Gather Information page.

All students, faculty and staff have been pre-registered for the Gather Space. Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 graduates are registered with their Andrew Email accounts. (full @andrew.cmu.edu and not @cmu.edu required). Summer 2020 graduates are have been registered with the personal email we have on file. If you need to have an alternative address registered, you must send an email to cheme-computing@andrew.cmu,edu and request it before Saturday May 22nd at 5:00 pm. When connecting to the space you will need to verify your email. Tech support will be available during the event for anyone having access issues.
