Graduate School Timeline
Summary of what and when to do things to get into graduate school.
Sophomore and junior years: Get involved in Research! You go to graduate school to do research, and you should pick schools based on the type of research you want to do. It helps a lot if you have tried it beforehand. Another reason it is really important to get involved in research is you will need letters of recommendation from the faculty here to get into graduate school.
Fall Senior year: You need to identify the schools you are planning to apply to. Applications are due in the November-January timeframe. Consider applying for an NSF graduate fellowship.
Spring Senior year: Most chemical engineering programs that accept you will ask you to visit their campus to recruit you. Typical deadlines for accepting an offer are mid-April.
