The Art of Klezmer Music

Derived from Eastern Europe and played and danced at Jewish weddings and celebrations, Klezmer music is essentially Jewish folk music that is soulful and upbeat.  Taught by renowned violinist, composer, and educator, Steven Greenman, students will learn Klezmer tunes, explore phrasing, style and ornamentation as well as incorporate the accompaniment patterns with full ensemble interaction of the participants.  Students will also be introduced to some Yiddish line dances with the music learned at the Workshop.
