Newby Awarded Miller Presidential Fellowship
PhD candidate Alexandra Newby has recently been awarded a Ruth Furman Miller and David H. Miller Presidential Fellowship in the Department of Civil and Environmental EngineeringNewby received her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and Engineering and Public Policy at the CMU. She is currently working with Professor Meagan Mauter where she is developing optimization models to investigate novel water desalination technologies.
“It is such an incredible honor to receive this award," says Newby. " I am very grateful for the support of Mr. and Mrs. Miller. Receiving this award helps me pursue a life long dream of getting a PhD degree.”
This award was made possible through a generous gift in 2016 from the estate of Ruth Furman Miller.
