Tim Hinkle Accepted into Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate Program

Tim Hinkle Accepted into Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate Program Soon after graduating with the class of 2018, CEE junior Tim Hinkle will be living and leading aboard a US Naval nuclear submarine.

This summer, Hinkle was accepted into the Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate program based on his level of academic achievement, a series of interviews, and a battery of rigorous physical endurance tests. Admiral James Caldwell, the current director of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion program, personally selects each candidate who joins this highly competitive program.

"It is an honor to be selected for this program and to serve my country,” says Hinkle. “I've always known I wanted to serve in the military, and this program lets me use my engineering knowledge to do just that."

Considered active duty, Hinkle will continue his studies in the department with his class but will head to successive officer and nuclear power training Naval programs to prepare him serve on a US Naval Nuclear Submarine.
