Lei Awarded the Julia and Michael Ellegood Strategic Doctoral FellowshipPhD candidate Xuechen Lei has been awarded the 2014-2015 Julia and Michael Ellegood Strategic Doctoral Fellowship. Lei competed his studies at Southeast University in China, earning his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and his masters in Architecture and Civil Engineering.
Lei is advised by Christiano Professor Burcu Akinci and Assistant Professor Mario Berges. His doctoral work will focus on integrating Building Information Modeling (BIM) and sensor technology for use in larger infrastructure.
"It is my great honor to be awarded this fellowship," Lei said. "It motivates me to pursue research achievements in the future. I am very grateful to the Ellegoods for the generous support."
The fellowship was established thru the generosity of Michael (BS '60) and Julia Ellegood in 2008 and targets research where more traditional funding sources may not yet be available.
