Bielak Gives 2014 John A. Blume Distinguished Lecture
Paul Christiano University Professor Jacobo Bielak presented the 2014 John A. Blume Distinguished Lecture at Stanford University, which encourages the advancement of earthquake engineering research and education at Stanford. Bielak’s talk entitled: End-to-End Earthquake Simulation: From the Source to Propagation Path, Site Effects, and Seismic Response of Building Clusters, discussed the response of building clusters during earthquakes, their effect on the ground motion, and how individual buildings within the cluster interact with the soil and with each other.

He also held a roundtable session with a group of Ph.D. students in structural/earthquake engineering and seismology to share ideas of common interest. The John A. Blume Distinguished Lecture is given once a year by a structural engineer whose career best exemplifies Blume's outstanding achievements
