Akinci Selected for 2014-15 ELATE at Drexel Program
CEE is pleased to announce that Professor Burcu Akinci has been selected as a 2014-15 fellow for the ELATE at Drexel program. This elite, one of a kind professional development program is designed for women who are in STEM disciplines at academic institutions. Fellows are nominated and then mentored by their dean with the goal of developing diverse and strong leaders who are prepared to address emerging issues within their colleges, universities, and professional communities.
This one year, part-time program blends in-resident sessions, online and conference call discussions and an institutional action project development. Key focus areas of Personal and professional leadership, strategic finance and resource management, organizational dynamics, and sustaining leadership communities are part of ELATE at Drexel’s curriculum.
The fellowship year concludes with the completion of an Institutional Action Project, developed in collaboration with the fellows’ dean or provost. These action projects are not only designed to address an institutional or departmental need or priorities, but also help the fellows understand the challenges institutions face and the skills a leader must possess in order to address these challenges.
