Carnegie Mellon University

The Peter C. Dozzi Pittsburgh Internship Initiative was created in 2004 through a generous gift by Mr. Peter C. Dozzi, founder of Jendoco Construction Corporation, a Pittsburgh organization founded in 1957.

The scholarship money is made available through the Carnegie Mellon Career and Professional Development Center for students who will be staying in the Pittsburgh Region to complete a summer internship experience, as an incentive to keep Carnegie Mellon talent in and around the Pittsburgh Region. It is to encourage Carnegie Mellon students to see the positive features the Pittsburgh area has to offer and to encourage them to consider the Pittsburgh area as an option for making a living, developing & contributing their ideas and talent as well as possibly staying to raise a family in the future. Mr. Dozzi and his entire family are committed to seeing Pittsburgh grow and thrive. One way to see that idea unfold is to attract and keep skilled and talented young people in Pittsburgh to live and work. By offering these summer scholarships, the Dozzi's are showing their commitment in a tangible way. On behalf of the University we thank them for their generosity.

All Carnegie Mellon undergraduates and graduate students from any college or school who have a strong academic record and an internship offer in the Pittsburgh region are invited to apply. Students must be returning to Carnegie Mellon for the Fall 2018 semester.  Students are responsible for finding their own internships. There are many available resources open to them through the Career and Professional Development Center and Handshake, in their own particular schools and departments, and through experiences of fellow students who have participated in internships during past summers.

Scholarships of $1,500 each are awarded to individuals across a diverse group of Carnegie Mellon's six colleges for the summer. Internships must be unpaid or low-paying and typically cover a 10-week period.

Students can apply on Handshake with their resume and completed Dozzi Application [pdf]. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 20th.
