Graduate Presidential Fellowships

The Presidential Fellowship program, launched by CMU President Subra Suresh in 2014, is intended to award excellence and encourage impactful research by Ph.D. students. Selection is based on evidence of accomplishment of an impactful body of work leading to a research paper, either published or submitted. This year, 2 fellowships will be awarded within the Biological Sciences program. Each will provide 1 year of financial support for the selected graduate student and his/her faculty mentor.

Each applicant should submit the following:

  • Online application with Name, Email, Advisor, Year of Entry into Ph.D. program, and Research Description/Title
  • A published or submitted manuscript in PDF format
  • A brief statement (2 pages or less) to be written by the student describing the overall significance of the paper and how the paper fits into the student’s current and future research plans.
