Inaugural Career Fair at Carnegie Mellon University

6:30 AM on Saturday 14th December 2013 the 4th floor of Telecom House was abuzz with students, faculty and staff of Carnegie Mellon University in Rwanda (CMU-R), finalizing arrangements for the career fair participants.
CMU-R was holding its inaugural career fair at its current location in Rwanda, Kigali. The fair ran from 8am till 12pm with 23 companies exhibiting and interviewing students in the CMU-R Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) program.

The exhibition was held in two classrooms in the C-Wing of the CMU-R telecom house location. CMU-R currently occupies the 4th floor, with expansions being made to the 5th. These expansions are to accommodate the new Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering (MSECE) program that will be starting August 2014, with applications being taken now.
Two CMU-R classrooms turned into exhibition halls were busting with energy as first- and second-year MSIT students met potential employers to discuss possible jobs and internships.  The students presented themselves to the companies and vice versa.  “A perfect networking and career building opportunity”, said Victor Kagimu a first-year  MSIT student.

Organizations and companies represented at the Inaugural CMU-R Career Fair included the Rwanda Ministry of Youth and ICT, Axiom Networks, Energy Water and Sanitation Agency (EWSA), Econet Wireless Burundi, Banque Populaire Rwanda (BPR Ltd), COMZAfrica, Pivot Access, Liquid Telecom Rwanda, Bank of Kigali, the United States Embassy, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), Radio10/TV10, Mobicash Rwanda, Ecobank, Olleh Rwanda Networks (ORN), MTN, Airtel, Revolution Inc, Rwanda Development Board (RDB), the Rwanda Immigration and Emigration Authority, Global Health Corps and
